Does spirituality mix with commerce?

That's the title of this MSNBC article. Let me summarize.

Yes.

If you want to read the article, go ahead, it's some crappo about Starbucks putting "inspirational" (read: Xian) quotes on their coffee cups and the like. But that's not really what I'm looking for here, not even chocofixes will satisfy my cynicism.

Pope John Paul commemorative coins on eBay? Closer...

Now you're talkin'.

I'm more nostalgic of Eternal September myself, since my first introduction to the 'net was Usenet newsgroups in 1992.

Today's news, in sonnet.

What's with all the atmospheric danger?
Global warming, or unlucky season?
To whatever heavenly arranger:
KNOCK IT OFF, REGARDLESS OF THE REASON!

Certain politician's booking session
leads us to uncontrollable delight.
Leaving liberals with a valid question:
What wine is best with perp walks, red or white?

Cheney, Libby, Bolton, Rove, and Novak
might be soon together in the slammer,
'cause Fitzgerald seems to have a ball sac
large enough for pants of MC Hammer.

And here's a Katie story just because I
know that Google hits are hard to come by.

It's been a year. What have I learned?

There's no trauma that can't be summarized in an allegory.

I'd walk a mile for a passenger pigeon quesadilla.

Alton Brown rocks.

It takes five months of writing sonnets before tackling one in the traditional iambic pentameter.

Curling can't fill the void of hockey.

For me, a post is just an excuse to riff on Rush quotes.

Gambling will cause children to attend Gamblers Anonymous meetings and threaten their parents melodramatically.

Alliteration rocks.

Hardcore religious zealots can't even leave candy alone.

Don't mess with Swearengen.

Stubby-tailed cats rock. Unless you're a rug. Or trying to sleep.

Origami projects are easier said than done.

Finally, eHarmony sucks. If nothing else, I'd like to make that clear.

Here's to year two...

An article for cat owners...

Notice the time of this post and you'll understand why I'm posting this article.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for a shot of blackberry brandy and some earplugs...

Thanks a lot.

I always thought killing Smurfs would be funny. But now the whole thing's ruined. Thanks a lot, UNICEF.

Odds and sods...

* Well, the original was OK, I guess, but what would really make that bastard sing is a big ol' slice of ham on top...

* Comcast cable will stream NHL games during this season. I think their bandwidth will be pretty safe, considering we're talking about a sport whose national presence is controlled by OLN, and mind you, I'm a fan. The NHL also made an agreement with Amiga for applications and cross-promotion. I wish it was Atari...

* Overall, I'm skeptical about the rumors that You Know Who is on or off the wagon (whichever one it is that involves puking), but even thinking about vetoing a defense bill that passed 90-9 in the Senate just because it happens to say torturing detainees is not allowed is a big indicator for the happy-sauce theories...
